Childbirth
and Child-Rearing
Mother
and Child Health Handbook (Boshi Techo)
Once you have confirmed that you are pregnant, you should go to the Public
Health Center to file a Pregnancy Notification form. You will be issued
a Mother and Child Health Handbook (free of charge). Since you will be using
this handbook to record the health status of both mother and child, as well
as the child's immunization record, please take good care of the book and
keep it up to date.
Infant
Health Checkup
Health checkups are conducted
once a month at the Public Health Center for children who are 4 months,
18 months and 3 years of age. Please call the Public Health Center for
information concerning the health checkup schedule.
Yurikago
"Cradle" Classes
Mothers- and fathers-to-be can
learn about pregnancy, childbirth and child-rearing at these classes.
The classes enable participants to make friends with peer parents as they
develop skills and confidence in child-rearing.
Infant
Nutrition Classes (Weaning and Solid Foods)
These classes are held once a
month for children under 1 year of age.

This program is for children under
1 year of age.

children from one year of age until entrance to elementary school.
