Childbirth and Child-Rearing

Mother and Child Health Handbook (Boshi Techo)

Once you have confirmed that you are pregnant, you should go to the Public Health Center to file a Pregnancy Notification form. You will be issued a Mother and Child Health Handbook (free of charge). Since you will be using this handbook to record the health status of both mother and child, as well as the child's immunization record, please take good care of the book and keep it up to date.

 

Infant Health Checkup

Health checkups are conducted once a month at the Public Health Center for children who are 4 months, 18 months and 3 years of age. Please call the Public Health Center for information concerning the health checkup schedule.

 

Yurikago "Cradle" Classes

Mothers- and fathers-to-be can learn about pregnancy, childbirth and child-rearing at these classes. The classes enable participants to make friends with peer parents as they develop skills and confidence in child-rearing.

 

Infant Nutrition Classes (Weaning and Solid Foods)

These classes are held once a month for children under 1 year of age.

 

Infant Health Consultation

This program is for children under 1 year of age.

 

Toddler Health Consultation

This program is for preschool children from one year of age until entrance to elementary school.

  Only those in the 2nd year of elementary or junior high school who tested negative the previous year and received BCG.

Health Consultation for Adults

Health consultation with urinalysis and blood pressure measurements are conducted every month. Take advantage of these checkups to maintain good health and prevent illnesses resulting from lifestyle-related diseases.


Health Checkups for Adults

The city conducts the following health checkups to facilitate the early detection and early treatment of diseases.

Basic Health Checkup 15 to 64 years of age (Group Checkup)
65 years of age or older (Individual Checkup)
Cancer Checkup Stomach Cancer 40 years of age or older
Colon Cancer 40 to 64 years of age (Group) 65 years of age or older (Individual)
Uterine Cancer (cervix only) Women of even number of age(20 years of age or older)(Only Individual Checkups)
   
Breast Cancer

Women of even number of age(40 years of age or older)

Chest Examination (TB, Lung Cancer) 40 years of age or older
Dental Checkup for Adults 30 years of age
Osteoporosis Examination Women 40 years of age or older
