If There Is a Crime or Accident: DIAL 110 Contacting the Police Department To notify the police of a crime or accident, dial 110. This is a toll-free number which operates 24 hours a day, from anywhere in the country. If someone has been injured, inform the operator and an ambulance will be dispatched.
Police boxes and substations are 24-hour neighborhood police stations that can be found throughout the city. Officers not only patrol local streets and engage in crime prevention activities from these offices, but perform a wide range of duties, from handling traffic violations and accidents, to safe-keeping lost-and-found articles, giving directions, and taking reports on lost children or missing persons.
If you are the victim of a traffic accident:
The city of Tsurugashima is enrolled in the Saitama Prefectural Municipal Traffic Accident Mutual Aid Plan which offers a monetary gift for members who are injured as a result of a traffic accident. The valid period is from April 1 (the day following the date of enrollment for those who enroll in the middle of the year) to March 31 of the following year. Anyone who is a registered resident of the city of Tsurugashima (including foreign residents) may enroll in this program.
